"Consult not your fears but your hopes and your dreams. Think not about your frustrations, but about your unfulfilled potential. Concern yourself not with what you tried and failed in, but with what it is still possible for you to do."
- Pope John XXIII

Music is a passion in Mrs. Burchill's life. In the pursuit of music she says she has found joy, beauty, discipline, friendship, accomplishment, connection with people of other times and places, the satisfaction of working with others toward a common goal and countless hours of happiness and aesthetic pleasure. This is something she longs to pass on to her students! She believes music opens students' minds to things yet undiscovered and that everyone can have a more fulfilled life through developing a love of music.
Mrs. Burchill earned her undergraduate degree in piano and voice performance at USD and studied music at UNT where she earned her Masters in Music. She also did post graduate work in music and worship at SWBTS. She pursued a career as a professional singer and pianist for 15 years before becoming a public school educator. She still continues to sing, play and write music. She is very involved in her church music ministry at Trinity Bible Church where she sings and plays piano and writes original music for the worship ministry. She also sings in Dallas/Fort Worth's premiere vocal jazz ensemble, The New Collection, under the direction of Paris Rutherford, founder of the vocal jazz program at UNT. The group performs and records
a cappella vocal jazz.
She is married to Tom Burchill who is a professional guitarist and the music pastor at TBC. He's also the Jazz Guitar Artist in Residence at SWBTS and the jazz guitar instructor at TCU. She has one son, Jordan who is a singer/songwriter and a recent graduate of UNT with a degree in Jazz Studies with an emphasis in guitar. They are a very musical family! They love to practice, play and perform music. In fact, they often play together in their own family band called BLUE SKIES.  For fun they love to try new restaurants and go to Dallas Mavericks Basketball games!
As the McAnally Music and Choir teacher Mrs. Burchill hopes to inspire students who long to pursue music, to do so with discipline and energetic passion. She also hopes to pass on to all of her students a love of music that will enrich their life now and in the future. In the general music classes the students will gain knowledge of basic music theory, be led through an overview of music history, and participate in a unit on American popular music. They will have the opportunity to experience playing many percussion instruments in a drum circle. They will explore improvisation, learn basic piano skills and listen to famous musicians of all types and world famous music from classical to jazz to the radio music of today. The choir class will learn the basics of theory and solfege and singing technique. They will rehearse and perform a wide range of repertoire and they will end the year by performing a Broadway Junior musical.
She looks forward to making some awesome musical memories with her McAnally students this year! One of her primary goals is to make learning in music class fun!  But most importantly, you can count on Mrs. Burchill to encourage the students to be the best they can be and to relentlessly pursue their hopes and dreams!
